Project Summary

COSMO is a programme that connects many dots for its beneficiaries. For one, it comes to address the disparity between women and men in the workplace while also teaching women valuable market and digital literacy skills. In this sense, the project aligns with a number of overarching and region-specific priorities for the current call. The overarching priorities addressed include “Digital” as the programme employs technology and will emphasize the use of blended learning tools to increase its accessibility to marginalized women with limited time/resources for transportation. On a deeper level, COSMO plans to create “Sustainable growth and jobs” by preparing a generation of qualified individuals and supporting them through creating their own business which will enable them to effectively participate in the highly competitive job market and in turn generating local employment opportunities. The project meets the scope of the call as it focuses on training women in underserved areas, giving them knowledge and skills to enhance their professional potential. This project intends to integrate theoretical cosmetic arts’ education with practical training, raising the level of education and performance in this field to be reflected in the story and type of professional work in community salons, which is entirely consistent with the call's general objectives in addition to the fact that the project's location at the National University College of Technology allows able women, as well as those with physical disabilities, who live in Amman's eastern regions and are from low-income backgrounds, to participate in the cosmetic training programme, as this type of advanced training does not exist in these regions, thereby achieving the objective of inclusion. This programme will also be available mainly to female workers in this field to improve their performance because it will develop their skills in organizing and implementing programs, ensuring the project's long-term viability (sustainability). With the participation of countries from the same region (Jordan, Egypt, and Tunisia) and European countries (France, Italy and Croatia), we can guarantee a wide range of experiences in the world of cosmetology.

Suez Canal University Inaugurates Center for Beauty and Entrepreneurship Studies within the European "COSMO" Project

In a strategic step towards enhancing applied education and linking academic outcomes with labor market needs, the Center for Beauty and Entrepreneurship Studies was inaugurated at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Suez Canal University. This center is a key outcome of the Professional Training in Higher Education (COSMO) project, funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ program.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, and with the distinguished presence of Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, former President of the University.

The project was overseen by Dr. Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Safwat Abdel-Maqsoud, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, while Dr. Nihal Lotfy, the project coordinator, oversaw its implementation.

The establishment of this center comes within the framework of the project's efforts to develop the professional training system within higher education institutions and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and the actual requirements of the beauty and pharmaceutical industries. The center aims to refine the professional and entrepreneurial skills of both students and graduates, giving them a competitive edge in the local and international job markets.

The center has been equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, procured through the project budget, creating a comprehensive training environment that fosters innovation and hands-on professional work. This environment allows trainees to gain practical experience in managing cosmetic and pharmaceutical projects according to the highest standards.

The center represents a valuable addition to the university's educational infrastructure and underscores its role in preparing qualified professionals capable of leading the entrepreneurial sector in the medical and cosmetic fields.

Celebrated the graduation of the COSMO Project training program

Suez Canal University celebrated the graduation of the COSMO Project training program on April 29, 2026, an EU-funded initiative focused on the cosmetics industry and entrepreneurship. Under the leadership of President Dr. Nasser Mandour, the event featured participants showcasing their own startups and product samples developed during the training. By integrating scientific research with business skills, the university successfully empowers youth to launch their own professional ventures. This step reinforces the university's role in linking academic excellence directly with the modern labor market.
